100 Series Land Cruiser/ Lexus LX470 Valve Cover Gaskets
Переглядів 564Місяць тому
I finally had time in the schedule to film another video. This one is changing the valve cover gaskets on a Toyota 4.7 in a 100 Series Land Cruiser or Lexus LX470. Somehow the footage of the driver side removal went missing, but the passenger side hits the highlights.

Continuing on with the basic maintenance series, today we're changing the oil on a 200 Series Land Cruiser with a 5.7. Please excuse my voice. I had the flu a couple weeks ago and still have the cough so my voice is garbage. Hope you find the video helpful!

Quick video on resetting the oil life monitors on a Subaru Crosstrek hybrid. I actually filmed the entire oil change, but the rest of the audio was not good enough to post.
Subaru Outback H6 Oil Change
Переглядів 35610 місяців тому
I'm going to start taking advantage of the fact that we're shifting to an all makes all models repair shop to film new videos. I'd pretty much run the course on Cruiser repairs. With the new business model we should have a wider variety to pull from. Today we're doing an oil change on a Subaru Outback with an H6. Enjoy!!

Land Cruiser Maintenance, 1FZ-FE Oil Change
Переглядів 2 тис.10 місяців тому
We've had a couple requests for basic maintenance videos lately. Thought it was time I started filming them. Filmed an oil change today as the first one. Actually tried to film a belt change as well, but the camera angles ended up being wonky. I'll try again soon.
80 Series/ LX450 Shaky or Broken Mirror Fix
Переглядів 3,3 тис.Рік тому
Was looking for a repair solution for a customer's broken mirror after we came up empty handed for a new one. This repair bracket from Solv Function on Etsy was an extremely elegant and easy repair. Wish I'd found it before I used windshield adhesive to solid mount the mirror on my truck :) www.etsy.com/listing/718123962/bracket-to-fix-shakey-mirror-on-fj80

80 Series 1FZ-FE Head Gasket Part 4 Finishing Up
Can this repair be done while it's still on the truck?
Possibly, but it would make it way more difficult.
Never realised it was that easy. Im a mechanic, I thought there was going to be all kinds of springs and bullshit behind it, hence doing the research. This is a really really great video. Cheers mate.
Did the gear change but seat mounting holes doesn’t align with the truck anymore therefore I can’t put all 4 bolts any idea on what I did wrong?
Sounds like one of the adjusters got spun so they don't line up side to side anymore. It's easiest to reassemble with the adjusters all the way at one end or the other to insure they line back up.
@@OTRAMM I carefully measured them and they’re the same distance like you mentioned I put them all the way back. I’m going to try tomorrow again with a clear head because it just makes no sense to me
Thanks for this video. The Marco sockets you speak so highly of are called Non Slip sockets. This will help anyone trying to search.
Ugh, Matco.
It's so nice to see maintenance performed by an actual mechanic. If for no other reason than to see how much slower most of us move. Also, i stole that brass hammer vs. Drift trick. Drifts are nice to smaller stuff or precision stuff but those cone washers pop right out when you mini sledge a brass hammer. Love the content, thanks!
Trust me, ive got my slow days :)
Can anyone tell me why my belt cam marks dont line up? Crank is lined up with all 3 indicators but my cam marks on the belt are waay off.
Do you have the belt on the right way round? I've seen folks get the left and right backwards. Left and right are sitting in the driver seat, not facing the engine from the front.
@@OTRAMM Arrows are pointing towards the front bumper. L cam (driver side) arrow is 2.5" before the pully mark. R cam ( passenger) arrow is about an 1 in. 2000 landcruisier and after TDC I went another 50. I dont think the cams moved, and I would be amazed if somehow the L cam (driver moved that much)
@@brockisoverrated they can move quite a bit. Are the cam to head marks where they were?
@@OTRAMM passenger side is about 50 deg past the line (not the T) Driver is waay off, about 2.5" to the right. The belt arrows both seem to be about 50 deg. Should I just back the driver cam up and align to the arrow, then align the driver arrow, pull the tensioner pin and do 2 rotations and see if the all three line up (crank and both cams)?
@@brockisoverrated that's probably your best bet. Be very gentle rolling the came back to be sure the valves aren't binding.
Ты просто кравчик!!!
how much would it cost to replace oil pump cover gasket?
The pink coolant eats away the fipg seals?
just a quick question because i bought the centering tool for myself and i am just a hobbyist building my 87 SAS, when you put the caliper on the tool itself to measure, are you putting the caliper on the two cut out spots that hold the bearings in??
hey mate both my idle mixture and idle speed screw have no effect on rpm. the only way i could lower rpm was retarding timing. any tips? thank you
That sounds like you've got other issues beyond just needing an adjustment. Make sure none of the other adjustments or linkages are holding the throttle blades open at idle.
Your video are excellent thanks
Great as always! Thank you very much
Nice video, no extra BS just directly to here is what we got and how to do it, great video and huge help. Keep rocking!!
Lot of work for spark plugs. I did mines when I changed my a/c expansion valve.
Great video! I do have a question. After completing the rebuild I have 2 snap rings left over. I do not see where they were used in the video. Any help on that?
Great video. A real pro in 80 series repair.
Thank you
ive got the parts in to do this just havent will'd myself to do it yet about tired of the oil seep hitting the exhaust and that hint of burnt oil. you made quick work what will probably be a weekend job for me
Thanks for that I like to learn from you please.❤❤
Would this job require resetting engine timing after getting the new distributor cap on?
Nope, as long as you don't loosen the adjustment bolt no adjustment is needed.
With the mass block use a paper clip to hold sensor in that’s what I did an has seemed to work pretty well
Good video, as always. Excellent for newbies, speedy man. But where is "tune up"? What about distribution positioning? 3 degrees? Or not, what is found better if you have good petrol?)
I did a video on setting the distributor timing a few years ago. It's computer controlled so there's no reason to mess with it unless the entire distributor has been removed.
Background voices sound like Star wars characters
Yeah. It's like it replaced the background AC noises with random voices
@@OTRAMM once I got used to it I actually enjoyed ewoks and sand people in the background. Also thanks for the videos!
Do you have the Toyota part numbers for what you ordered? Wire assembly, cap and rotor?
Why am I hearing people Talking backwards in the audio? Great video, or is it the subliminal messages that are convincing me? I’m trying to figure out how to play the video backwards now….
I thought I could hear something when I was editing. I used the audio clean up function to filter out the AC noise. I guess it added subliminal messaging instead. Weird
Thanks, love these vids..
Great video. Thanks! Doing this tune up this week. While in there, would like to replace vacuum, coolant, fuel/evap, ventilation hoses, hoses. Can you recommend the appropriate over the counter hose sizes to use. I don’t see specs in the FSM. Looks like a quality fuel hose of similar inner diameter will work for most fuel/evap hoses. Uses several oem formed hoses where I can find part numbers. Any cautions or recommendations are appreciated.
We use factory for most of the hoses. You can get away with 1/8" vac line for the really small hoses but the factory stuff fits better and lasts longer.
Am I the only one that hears some strange voices? like audio artifacts? Weird!! Now come on!! I know I am not crazy! 😜 Anyway, great video.
I hear it also... figured I had some bad burrito..
@@Solvefunction both can be true 💩😜
Nice- well done.
My 80’s engine felt like new after doing this. Seems like all the acceleration is back to peak performance. I cannot recommend these simple replacements enough if your 80 has 250k+ on the engine. Awesome video, keep em coming!
He's back 🤘
Why don't you have the crankshaft keyway lined up with the dimple? It looks like you have it closer to the "window" mark, (4 squares making 1 square). Would you line it up to that "window" mark, which is past the dimple on crankshaft. when you have the cams set, past TDC (I) to the (T) timing belt service? So dimple on crankshaft and cam to TDC vertical line the same as cams on T and crank on window. Would this be right or wrong
What is the crankshaft mark, past the dimple, that looks like a window (4 small squares). Where your crankshaft is sitting it looks like it would be closer to the window mark than dimple. Having key stone on dimple only allows 3 of the 5 belt dots to fully seated on sprocket
amazing how hard tio replace spark plug ...on my corolla 2006 so easy !! ...was iridium spark plugs ?
thank you for making videos for the lc 100's. im preparing myself to replace the exhaust manifolds and your videos are a god send
How cheap were they? Local Toyota dealer, really?
So, since you have to pull the axles out to change the seals, why is it wrong to pull the axles out to replace the axles?
Saludos desde las canarias 🇮🇨 me podrías decir qué modelo de Toyota es me gustaría saber del land cruiser modelo kj90 año 2000
Great video man. Enjoying your videos always.
Thank you very much for these videos! I am at the point of removing cam bolts. They are super stuck. Any pointers to get them off? Can i spray PB blaster on these? I tried extensions on the cam tool and breaker bar but it isnt budging. Dont want to snap bolt. Thank you!!
Blaster probably won't help much. You may need an impact if they're that stuck
Let the PB blaster soak for 2 days and then just used the impact. Both bolts came right off! Those suckers were on there tight until today. Thank you for your response and again for the invaluable insight in your timing belt videos. Now time to put it all back together 😅
Good to have you back
Greatly appreciate this video. Thank you very much.
So glad to see you back! THE most underrated YT 80 series mech. You've enabled me to do so much to my 80 series that even other people recognize. Yeah I'm cheap. But YOU my friend are magic. HIGHLY recommend OTRAMM to ANYONE needing Toyota 80/100/200 series work. Hope to meet you soon! Cheers!
Nice to see you back! How about some Toyota Time?
That's gonna be tricky to work in to the schedule
@@OTRAMMBummer. Really enjoy playing some of your old Tuesday talks and listening to your Q & A.
very happy to see you back!!!
I can’t stop staring at that overfilled brake fluid reservoir! Love your videos tho
It's been sitting a few days so the accumulator has bled back to the reservoir.
Nice work. ! I think mine have been done. I hope they did such a nice job of it.
Welcome back! This is nice one thanks a lot. I have a question: do we need to come back again and retighten the head cover bolts after some milage?
It probably wouldn't hurt. They seem to loosen up as the gaskets settle in.
He's back!!
